Why-suddenly my fingers are turning black where I am wearing my diamond rings-all metal is 14K gold? Diamond engagement ring has black mark inside, why? I purchased a $3000 3/4 ct diamond engagement ring for my girlfriend in September from a jewelry store chain that is very reputable. Over the last month we've noticed a tiny black mark inside of the diamond, only noticeable from the sides, not on top. We took it back there and the lady said this is a normal characteristic of a real diamond and that sometimes this just happens. It proves the diamond is real. Anyone ever heard of this?

My boyfriend and I are looking at an engagement ring that is 18K white gold with a 2.1 carat black diamond (clarity - opaque - I am told this is the only grading that black diamonds have as you cannot see through them) and 48 small white diamonds that are 0.01 carat each, making the ring total 2.58 carats. I recently noticed a black spec/line inside my diamond ring! What is it, and will my warranty cover it? My boyfriend gave me the 1 carat ring over a month ago. There are 33 individual diamonds with 4 larger ones in center; the mark is on the larger diamond. I am 100% positive this black mark was NOT there when I got it. I only just noticed it yesterday, after a month. I already cleaned it -the mark IS inside the stone. It is visible to the naked eye; I would have seen this long ago, had it been there. Help! Well, we went to Disneyland last weekend, and on one of the rides, there was black lights (well, most of the rides). Her ring is a bunch of small diamonds making a heart shape...
