CHEAPEST 1 ct Princess Diamond Solitaire Ring?

Me and my husband are looking around for a ring. A 1 ct Princess Cut, Diamond Solitaire Ring. I'm not wanting to pay over 2,000 dollars for one. I dont trust an online store that doesnt have an actual store i could take it back to. So no "strickly online" jewlers please. The cheapest i found so far is 3000 at Zales. ive checked sams club, zales, kay, j edwards, ...a few others. Anyone know what i've missed? Thanks so much. Blue, Well i'm pretty sure i'm going to get one at Zales now that you have pointed that out to me, i never really knew what the difference was but now i do thanks! I had no clue i would walk into zales and get the price down lower....does zales work with customers? 1. you should start looking at quality. That size for that price will be very low quality, and the inclusions will be very obvious. Your call though... I think you've already looked at the cheapest options (I don't think you'll find a cheaper place than sams club, except maybe walmart? they have diamonds there). I am not normally a fan of online stores, either, but if you are not looking for a high quality stone then what difference does it make? That'll be your cheapest bet. Just remember, if it's not colorless or nearly colorless, it'll look yellow, and if it's an I inclusion level you can see the flaws with the naked eye. The bigger the stone, the more obvious the discoloration and inclusions. You can get a cheap ct. stone, but the quality will be VERY low at that price. If you get a good quality stone at a 0.70, it will actually look a lot bigger than a poor quality 1.0 ct, just to let you know. (also, negotiate well... the average mall jeweler marks up their stones 200%-500%... you have bargaining room if you work it correctly.) ** you usually have to, nicely, play hardball. They want to make as much of a profit as poissible. Tell them you like a specific ring and ask, "what is the best you can do for me? This seems a little high compared to what I have seen, but I would like to do business with you." They will give you a lower price most likely, and you can sit there and think it over and contemplate with your husband. If its not low enough, you can always say, "Is there anyway we can get it for ____ , then we can just get it now and be set". Honestly, you probably won't get a $3,000 ring down to $2,000. You may get it down to $2600... $2500 if you are good. Look at the charts and learn about the 4 Cs of diamonds before trying to negotiate. If you are well educated about the color, cut, clarity, ct. weight, then you'll be a better negotiator. If there is still no way to get what you are looking at, have them search loose stones in their inventory. They can always get a cheaper one in the store for you and swap it into the setting. Price = facets/points. Keep that in mind. The bigger the stone, the more points. The more points, the higher the price (assuming like quality). Getting a stone that is a 0.92 or a 0.89 will cost a good deal less than a full 1.0 (stay away from the 1/2 numbers, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, etc, since they are pricies due to points). Visually you cannot tell the difference between a 0.92 and 1.0. Your wallet can, though. If the store has a 1.0 or 1.03, have them look for a 0.92 and negotiate that one down a few hundred!!! Remember, you are not looking for a rare stone - ALL retailers look at the same buying index. Get the specific number of a stone listed for jeweler purchase. You may be able to pit 2 stores against each other for the sale of the exact same stone! EDIT: Be very wary of the freddys website. If you look into the clarity information on diamonds, there is a hUGE difference between a VS2 and an SI1 as far as the visibility of inclusions. Also, F (lowest colorless) and G (near colorless) are not the same grades. It's a little skety because they are not giving ranges in the same quality scale. So... you COULD get a colorless, but realistically it will probably NOT be an F. You COULD get a decent clarity stone with a VS2, but they could also send you an SI clarity... you'll most likely get the lowest of the offered ranges for that price (and possibly a little lower). I wouldn't trust those ranges, personally.

3. Walmart has nice real diamond rings that are nowhere near that expensive. Also, alot of jewelry stores are having going-out-of-business clearance sales so their stock is discounted quite a bit. You may find something there that is in your budget.
4. I think it's going to be hard to find a decent 1 carat diamond for $2000. You should try to look at .88-.97 carat diamonds. NO ONE will be able to tell it's not a full carat - it will look so close! Also, I would not buy from Zales. 5. my center stone is .76 with to bigets on either side. my center stone is almost perfect and the ring cost about 2200.
