Diamond Solitaire Ring

I got my girlfriend a 1/5 ct. diamond solitaire ring. It wasn't too expensive, but is the diamond too big?

I agreed to give a ring to my girlfriend for her birthday. It's not an engagement ring, and hardly a promise ring (we don't want this to symbolize as a "pre-engagement" ring). We have been together for around 2 years and love each other, but we are still in college and not ready to talk about marrying each other. I just want some opinions. This purchase didn't affect me financially either; I would have spent the same amount on something else for a birthday present. Here's the ring: http://www.zales.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3314876&kpc=1 I know it says "engagement ring" on the website, but there are also some promise rings on the website that are solitaires and have the exact same diamond weight. I figured I would get that one because it was $100 cheaper than the promise rings that have the exact same specs.

  1. WELL, 2 ME IT LOOKS LIKE AN ENGAGEMENT RING. U SHOULDA GOT SOMETHING DIFFERANT, MAYBE HER BIRTHSTONE.....
  2. Nope the diamond is probably a perfect size. I hate big diamonds I find it kinda trashy. Good luck
  3. i think its absolutely sweet. but it does look like an engagement ring.
  4. It does look like an engagement ring, but it isn't too big. I would have bought a ring with some other stone if she wanted a ring and if she wanted diamonds, I would of bought a necklace. I would stay away from anything associated with an diamond engagement ring unless you want to have this discussion with anyone seeing the ring.
