- i don't think so my promise ring was a diamond band
- No. You can't give a girl a diamond that is too big. lol "Diamonds are a girl's best friend." (Marilyn Monroe) My wedding band is 3 carats but I never received a promise ring. I think you are a very sweet person to consider your girlfriend in such a romantic way. Ignore the smar-tass that spouted off about promise rings. Now we all know why she didn't get one; I pity her bf, significant other, wife, or whatever.
- no because my engagement ring is a 1/2 Carat princes cut but my wedding band i have chose is a 1 Carat alone. So 1/4 isn't to much
- mabybe.not so sure
- That is a perfect size. It is still a diamond and really is more about your commitment rather than size. Size matters more for engagement rings!
- No, and the way you describe it, it seems beautiful. She's a lucky girl. Good Luck!!
- Promise rings are crap, from a ladies point of view if a guy got me a promise ring I would immediately ditch him. Its kind of like saying, "I like you a bunch, but I'm too indecisive to make a move." It shows what that guy will be like as a husband and father later on down the road. Indecisive, cheap, unwilling to commit, scared... all around nothing good. If you want to marry her buy an engagement ring, If you aren't sure, give it time. If she gets bored and leaves, it speaks of her ability as a wife and mother.
- A promise ring is a "Shut up" ring to buy more time and keep options open. * * *
- Yes I think that's too big. That is about the size of my mom's engagement ring too, and also the size of many of the ones my fiance and I looked at when we picked out mine. Not to mention that a quarter carat is still fairly expensive for a promise ring ... a quarter carat can still be around $500 or even more. My promise ring had a bunch of diamond chips next to each other. It was really nice and cost about $200 or so, and even that was too much I think, depending on how old you are. I would get something smaller or maybe even a ring with her birth stone or something other than a diamond.
- No, it's not.
- This reminds me of when my bf got me a small 1/8 diamond ring for vday and his aunt said 'is that a promise ring"? and his mother shouts "yeah a promise to buy her something a hell of a lot bigger and better" lol.... Anyway, I don't think that is too big at all. I don't know how old your mother is but, I think a lot of women in my parents age range had small rings like that. As, do women who aren't into the bling still do. My mom's was 1/5 it took her 30 years to get a 3 stone 1 carat. I on the other hand want something bigger for a promise ring than 1/4 and something in the 1-2 carat for my wedding set. I think for a promise ring that is nice. Good job
- I had a silly, cheapish claddagh ring with an "amethyst" in the middle. My engagement ring is 1.5 carat via 9 stones, with the three centers being about an 1/4, I think. I kinda think that it's too big - save that for the engagement ring. However, it is your money and your girlfriend. Do as you wish. :)
